Professor Solt (Ph.D., University of North Carolina, 2003) joined the SIUC faculty in
Fall 2005. He teaches courses in comparative politics and political methodology. His
research focuses on the consequences of economic inequality for democratic politics and
more generally on comparative political behavior, comparative democracy, and democratic
transitions. His recent articles on these topics appear in the American Journal of
Political Science, the British Journal of
Political Science, the Latin American Research Review, and Studies in
Comparative International Development.
